Samsung has announced to unveil two new Android smartphones with jumbo screens as it seeks to recapture some of the sales lost to Apple!

Samsung has finally in ground with offensive approach by announcing that the Company is going to launch 5.7in (14.5cm) screen high-end Android handsets namely the Galaxy S6 Edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5.

The announcement has been taken serious after everyone observed a great fall in quarterly profits of electronics. According to analysts, five successive quarterly falls of Samsung Electronics are due to mid-range phones from Chinese rivals.

"The Note would have been a good fit for Europe's enterprise market, and if Samsung expects the S6 Edge+ to attract the same business users I don't believe it will succeed," commented Francisco Jeronimo from market research firm IDC.

One of another biggest reason which cannot be ignored is Apple's shift to bigger iPhones, which has dented demand for Samsung's devices all across the world. However, Samsung Electronics is still far ahead of all its rivals with respect to overall smartphone shipments.

Although, if you count from year to year, Samsung is -2.3% comparatively, and Apple & Huawei have grown +34.9% & +48.1% respectively, yet Samsung is at 73.2 million in terms of April-June smartphone shipments, and Apple & Huawei are at 47.5 million & 29.9 million respectively. The following chart will explain you the reality in more detail.

However, the Company has decided to make Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 available in market for sale earlier in the year than their previous generations. Moreover, for the sake to fight back, world’s leader in terms of overall smartphone shipments, also ready to launch its smart wallet service namely Samsung Pay – a new, simple and safe way allowing you to pay with your phone.

"Of course, we're not alone in the market and we take the whole [sector] into consideration to find the best opportunity," said Jean-Daniel Ayme, vice president of Samsung Electronic's European telecom operations.

The announcements were made at a press conference in New York, where Michelle Fleury takes a first look at new phones.
