A Chinese military’s official daily newspaper, ‘The People's Liberation Army Daily’ has disclosed the news that China has imposed ban on wearing smartwatch and other internet-connected wearable devices in army. Every individual in army has to follow the rule no matter high ranked he/she is or not.

The ban has happened to be imposed when one of the recruit has received a Smartwatch as a birthday gift. Newspaper has said, security concerns had been raised after this issue, that’s why ban was inevitable.

"The moment a soldier puts on a device that can record high-definition audio and video, take photos, and process and transmit data, it's very possible for him or her to be tracked or to reveal military secrets," according to PLA.

The newspaper PLA has said that the security concern had been raised especially when one of the solders take a photo of his comrades. According to expert, this ban is ultimately leading to forbidden the use of even mobile phone in Chinese army persons, which can be depicted from their saying,

"The use of wearables with internet access, location information, and voice-calling functions should be considered a violation of confidential regulations when used by military personnel."

This is not, however, the issue with only Chinese army, the expansion of high tech wearable are posing challenge to the armies across the world, because these techs possess ability to record videos and audio, take snaps, consequently, able to leak the secret data as well.

"Any self-aware organization will have measures for operational security," said Peter Quentin, a research fellow at the British defense think tank Rusi. He further added, "Anything that is networked - whether it is in your pocket or on your wrist - can be remotely accessed and exploited by others to provide an advantage to adversaries

"That can happen inadvertently or be done deliberately, so it needs to be controlled wherever possible.
